ABOUT
Steven is an award-winning producer, director and educator. As a theatre graduate turned filmmaker from the University of Toronto, Steven won Best First Feature at the U of T Film Festival in 2005, and earned a role as a video editor and educator for the National Hockey League's Hockey Operations department in Toronto in 2006. Steven would soon be promoted to documentary Features Producer and go on to tour the world, telling stories about the league's marquee players including Wayne Gretzky, Connor McDavid, PK Subban, and work with celebrities including Snoop Dogg and Drake. Steven amassed millions of views over a 10 year body of work, including the award-winning doc series "NHL Life" which earned seven w3 web awards, including Best Drama Series and Best Documentary Series in 2015.
After full-time successful stints at Major League Baseball and The Walt Disney Company, Steven established 383 Pictures, where he directed and produced the Washington DC set feature documentary "The Cannons (Brothers on Ice)," which had its World Premiere at the prestigious DOC NYC Film Festival in November 2021. The film toured North America, earning Canadian Screen Award recognition for its film festival success and made its broadcast debut in 2024 on TSN and NHL Network and has been licensed to four other major regional broadcasters in the United States. In 2025, Steven wrote and produced the ESPN + series NHL Trophy Case, which premieres in June 2025.
Steven's short scripted work includes the life-inspired "Cliffside," which opened the Scarborough Film Festival in 2013 and the viral short film comedy "The Russian Hipster" in 2017 which amassed over 125k views on YouTube and received national press. A keen eye for television development, Steven continues to produce and develop serial long-form documentary and scripted shows, which has cultivated several shows in development with major studios in North America including Lionsgate Canada, Project 10, and Mojo Global Arts. Steven has directed and produced nationally-televised commercials and branded content stories for major partners in North America, including 7-Eleven, Adidas, and Scotiabank.
In 2019, Steven began serving as Program Coordinator and lead instructor for the Toronto Film School Video Production on-line program. His early leadership led to record numbers in the program and help create award-winning work from the program including the short documentary "Radio Bingo" by Shelby Adams, which had its World Premiere at the Academy Award recognized Atlanta Film Festival in 2023 and DOC NYC. In 2023, Steven was hired as Program Director for the marquee Film Production program at the Toronto Film School, and oversaw multi-million dollar investments into new equipment and help land strategic collaborations with popular brands like Sony Canada and ARRI.
